Twitter, on Tuesday, announced that it has started testing 280-character tweets, double of the previous 140-character limit. The previous character limit was the defining feature that made the micro-blogging site so popular. According to Twitter, the move will help the users to be more expressive, however the change has been widely regarded as bad move.
The hashtag ‘280 character’ has been trending on Twitter ever since the test project allowing 280 characters was announced. Twitterati’s have had a field day making fun of the increase in character limit.
Here are some of the funniest reactions Twitter’s new 280 characters limit:
Twitter (140 characters): “Hey guys, I’m Vijay”
Twitter (280 characters): “Vijay Dinanath Chauhan, poora naam. Baap ka naam Dinanath Chauhan. Maa ka naam Suhasini Chauhan. Gaon Mandwa. Umar 36 saal, 9 mahina, 8 din, aye aur yeh solva ghanta chaalu hai.”

Oh shit I was selected as one of the special ones to tweet in 280 characters. HAHAHA suck it losers, I feel like God right now. Wait, I’m not done, I would also like to say that all these words I’m typing right now are useless and I wasted them just because I CAN. These too, lmao

Did Twitter really not think this #280characters thing through? Don’t give Donald Trump extra space to start wars or embarrass us 🤦🏻♀️

Twitter allowing #280characters? BAD! I’ve never had a thought or idea that takes more than 140 characters.
