As Indian Cricket team preps for its upcoming ODI series against Australia, BCCI has released a statement stating that India’s opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan will be missing the first three ODI’s in the series.

Aesha Dhawan, Dhawan’s wife, is apparently ill and Dhawan has decided to be by her side to take care of her. BCCI released a statement that Dhawan has requested to be released from the first three ODI’s against Australia to take care of his ailing wife.

“Team India opener Shikhar Dhawan has requested to be released from the team for the first three ODIs of the Paytm Australia tour of India, 2017 to attend to his wife, who is unwell. The All-India Senior Selection Committee has decided not to name any replacement for Dhawan in Indian Cricket Team,” the BCCI said in a statement.

This is not the first time, Dhawan has requested for a leave to attend to his family. During the Sri Lankan series, the cricketer dropped out of the T20 series to attend to his ailing mother.

Dhawan’s decision to stay by her wife has garnered a lot of positive response from netizens.
