The obsession for fame has seen many young and rising stars risking it all and losing their lives. In a similar incidence last week, a young Youtube star, Pedro Ruiz III was shot and killed by his pregnant girlfriend, Monalisa Perez in an attempt to make a video of the star being shot at by Perez from a distance of about a foot holding a thick book against his chest.

Hours before the shooting, Perez tweeted: “Me and Pedro are probably going to shoot one of the most dangerous videos ever. HIS idea not MINE.”

The couple used a .50-caliber pistol which is considered “one of the most powerful semiautomatic handguns in the world.” Ruiz believed that holding a book against his chest would stop the bullet from hitting him. He also convinced Perez by showing her a book he tested his theory on, the book had only an entrance hole and no exit hole.

Claudia Ruiz, Ruiz’ aunt spoke to the Star Tribune stating that she told him not to do it even though he claimed he had evidence that it would work.

Perez who is 19 years old and from Minnesota, is pregnant with their second child. She is facing charges of second degree manslaughter. If Perez gets convicted, she faces up to 10 years behind bars.
