The world was at a standstill today as messaging app Watsapp went down for little over an hour today. People were unable to send or receive messages as the service continued to say ‘connecting’ with the wheel of death showing for most people.
Watsapp is a hugely popular messaging app and has over a billion users across the globe. The outage appears to have hit much of Europe and some areas in Malaysia and Indonesia. However, users in India, Singapore, Mozambique, Vietnam, and Iraq also reported that they could not access the service.
Many of the thousands of users affected took to Twitter to complain about the lack of service. And very soon Twitter was flooded with hilarious tweets about WhatsApp’s failure. India, which is the largest market for Watsapp with over 200 million users, saw ‘Watsapp down’ as a top trend today post the messaging app’s outage.
Here are some of the funniest tweets:
500 people in India have already died because Whatsapp is down and they couldn’t forward a chain message to 10 people. #WhatsappDown

#WhatsAppDown This dumb piece of shit WhatsApp goes down worldwide and also deleted me from my family jokes group, the forwards of which I thoroughly enjoyed reading and I definitely didn’t exit the group myself, the app is so buggy, it was entirely Whatsapp’s fault.
