Kevin spacey Oscar award winning actor apologizes on twitter this Sunday after actor Anthony Rapp accused him of making sexual advancement to him when he (Anthony Rapp) was 14 year old. This was almost 31 years back.
What was shocking is that for the first time ever Kevin Sapcey admitted that he was gay. Spacey said that he don’t remember the 1986 incident with Anthony Rapp but said he was horrified with the story.
“I honestly do not remember the encounter, it would have been over 30 years ago,” the 58-year-old said in a statement. “But if I did behave then as he describes, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behaviour.” Spacey said.
Anthony Rapp who is 46 now said in a interview that this incident happened when Spacey invited him to a party at his apartments. He also said that the party was totally boring so he just went into a bedroom and was watching TV. Spacey appeared later after the party had apparently ended.
“My impression when he came in the room was that he was drunk,” Rapp was quoted as saying.
“He was trying to seduce me,” Rapp told the website. “I don’t know if I would have used that language. But I was aware that he was trying to get with me sexually.”
Rapp said he pushed Spacey off and went to the bathroom before saying he was leaving.
When this incident took place Kevin Spacey was 26 years old. He was trying to climb on Rapp and tried to seduce him.
“I came forward with my story, standing on the shoulders of the many courageous women and men who have been speaking out, to shine a light and hopefully make a difference, as they have done for me,” Mr. Rapp said in an emailed statement. “Everything I wanted to say about my experience is in that article, and I have no further comment about it at this time.” Rapp Said.
Mr. Rapp said he met Mr. Spacey in 1986 when both were performing in Broadway shows. Mr. Rapp was a child actor in a new play called “Precious Sons,” while Mr. Spacey, then 26, was performing in a revival of “Long Day’s Journey Into Night.”
Mr. Spacey, now 58, is a well-known actor who hosted this year’s Tony Awards; he won his Oscars in 1996 for “The Usual Suspects” and in 2000 for “American Beauty,” as well as a Tony Award in 1991 for “Lost in Yonkers.” He currently stars as Frank Underwood on “House of Cards.”Mr. Rapp, now 46, is currently featured on the television series “Star Trek: Discovery.”
Many believe that Mr. Spacey’s decision to cite homosexuality as part of a response to an accusation that he made a sexual advance on a minor drew criticism from some on social media.
