Imagine what it must feel like to walk on a glass bridge that appears to crack under your feet as you walk. Scary as it may sound, a video of a glass walkway, in China, cracking under a man’s weight went viral over the weekend.

The video has been captured at the walkway around the eastern face of the Taihang Mountain in Hebei, China. The glass path hangs 3,871 feet above sea level, with a direct view of the drop down.

Some of the panels also had shattered fragments of glass placed between the layers so that when you walk over them, the glass sounds and looks as if it’s breaking. Not exactly the sound you would want to hear at that height.

The East Taihang district administration released an apology to explain that the splintering glass was merely a bid to make the effect more “provocative.”

And although the people in charge said they’re ‘very sorry that people got frightened’, they’re not planning to replace the shattered panels anytime soon because they are hoping that people would want to come and experience it for themselves.

Many users on the Chinese social media site Weibo have been outraged by seeing people being frightened on the glass bridge. According to Mashable, some people also said that the effects could even trigger heart attacks.
