Facebook Has Become A Matrimony Site For This 34 Year Old Photographer From Kerala.

by Prince Chandran

Facebook as we know is a social networking site where we can see how our friend’s life is and what are they doing in their daily life. But this photographer from Kerala is using Facebook for a completely different purpose.

34 year old Rajneesh was looking for a bride for the last seven years and nothing was going well, he tried everything like matrimony sites and many of his relatives. So he took the matter into his own hands and enlist Facebook’s help in finding his partner. He’s using Facebook as #FacebookMatrimony to tap into the social media’s enormous reach for the purpose.

This photographer from Manjeri in Malappuram district announced on Facebook that he is looking for a bride.

“My wedding has not been fixed yet and I am still looking for someone. If you know anyone, please let me know. I am 34 years old. I have to see the girl and like her. I have no other demands. Occupation: Photographer. Hindu. Caste no bar,” he posted on Facebook.

To his surprise his phone has been ringing ever since, he is getting calls from Dubai, Australi, US, Saudi, Bahrain and India. The post went viral and has got almost 4000 shares on Facebook.

The reason why Rajnish was not finding a bride, as he said it is because sometimes the horoscopes don’t match while some backed off when they learned that his father is a retired government employee and does not have too much money.

He is thinking maybe Facebook will help him finding a good bride.

Facebook and newspaper matrimony

In Kerala, matrimonial advertisements are generously peppered with mentions of ‘Nair boy’, ‘Paravan boy’ and ‘Menon boy’, proving that even today, there is deep-rooted casteism in our society. Ranjish’s post probably went viral because it didn’t have a mention of his caste, a rare occurrence in Kerala.

Dinkoism is a mock religion started in 2008 in Kerala by rational thinkers as a dig on religious communities with their rigid ideologies and beliefs. And their deity is a mouse — Dinkan.
