There are certain amount of calories you need to have everyday to survive, we all know the fact that men can have more calories than woman.
An average men can have upto 2500 cal and women 2000 which could be more.
Common dieting wisdom also tells us if we eat less, we lose weight.
This may not be strictly true, however.
The low dieting calories are very harmful and we may have also got the wrong end of the stick with the amount of calories we can eat daily.
To find out exactly how many calories you need to have just follow this simple calculation
The first step is working out your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) using The Schofield Calculator .
Our BMR is the number of calories you would need to eat to survive if all you did was lie in bed staring into space.
Then pick your age bracket and sex and check your weight, as you’ll need this for the below formula.
N.b. W = body weight in kg.
10-17 years BMR = 13.4 x W + 692
18-29 years BMR = 14.8 x W + 487
30-59 years BMR = 8.3 x W + 846
10-17 years BMR = 17.7 x W + 657
18-29 years BMR = 15.1 x W + 692
30-58 years BMR = 11.5 x W + 873
So, if you’re a 30-year-old woman who weighs 60kg, your BMR is 1344 calories – but remember, these are only the calories you need to do nothing.
So that is the amount of calories you need to have to stay fit and healthy. Start calculating and be healthy.
