The worlds highest IQ ever recorded is of William James Sidis with a IQ score between 250-300. Have you ever wondered how much your IQ is ?
Professional and DIY IQ tests are popular ways of ascertaining how intelligent you are, but quick they are not.
If you want to know your IQ you need to be spending a lot of time in taking the test .
There is also a quick IQ test with just 3 questions in it. Which is the CRT test ‘Cognitive Reflection Test’ and evaluates how accurately you can answer a question, Which is harder than you think.
Try It Yourself.
1. A bat and a ball cost £1.10 in total. The bat costs £1.00 more than the ball. How much does the ball cost?
A) Fifteen Pence
B) 10 pence
C) Five Pence
Maximum people go with 10 pence as the answer for this question which is however the WRONG answer.
If the ball costs X, and the bat costs £1 more, then it can be worked out like this:
Bat+ball=X + (X+1) =1.1
2X+1=1.1, and 2X=0.1
2. If it takes five machines five minutes to make five widgets, how long would it take 100 machines to make 100 widgets?
A) 100 minutes
B) 50 minutes
C) 5 minutes
It’s tempting, if answering these quickly, to guess 100 minutes.
But that is wrong too.
If five machines take 5 minutes to make 5 widgets, than the time required for making one widget is also 5 minutes.
Therefore if we have 100 machines all making widgets, they can make 100 widgets in five minutes.
Third one is more tricky.
3. In a lake, there is a patch of lily pads. Every day, the patch doubles in size.
If it takes 48 days for the patch to cover the entire lake, how long would it take for the patch to cover half of the lake?
A) 24 days
B) 47 days
c) 36 days
You would have gone with 24 days here, You got this one also wrong.
If the patch doubles in size each day going forward, it would halve in size going backwards. So on day 47, the lake is half full.
Don’t feel bad if all your answers are wrong, given the absence of verbal reasoning or any real variety of question, it’s not the most accurate test.
