by Prince Chandran

A stray cat has been identified as the prime suspect in an elderly woman attempt to murder who was found bleeding in her home.

Mayuko Matsumoto, 82, had  almost 20 cuts to her face when she was found unconscious at her home in Mifune, southern Japan by her daughter.

Her daughter said that “When we found her, blood covered everything above her chin. Her face was soaked in blood. I didn’t know what happened.”

Police launched an attempted murder investigation after seeing her wounds, some of them severe.

Ms Matsumoto, who is bedridden and reportedly unable to speak about the attack, had to receive emergency care.

While investigating police found nothing, there was no forced entry into the house, but they suspected that a cat was responsible for all of this. The wounds are caused by the cat.

Police found traces of human blood on one of the cats which was around Matsumoto home. Tests are being carried out on a sample of the blood.
