AIADMK Chief, VK Sasikala, is again in the news for getting VIP treatment at Bengaluru’s Parappana Agrahara Central Jail including an exclusive kitchen for all her meals, a report by the deputy inspector general (DIG) of prisons D Roopa says, also accusing her boss, the state’s Director General of Prisons HN Satyanarayana Rao, who knew of the violation of the jail rules but did nothing to rectify them.
According to the officer’s report, Sasikala who is currently serving a prison term of 4 years after being convicted in disproportionate assets case, paid a sum of 2 crores to the jail officials to get this special treatment.
According to an NDTV report, Roopa sent her findings regarding the multiple violation in the central jail to her boss, however it could not be established whether she had sent these reports to other senior officials as well.
“It (special kitchen) is said to be continuing despite you being aware of it. It is being rumoured that 2 crores bribe has been given for this and allegations of your involvement is unfortunate… So guilty officers should be punished”, DIG Roopa’s report read.
The report also stated of the other irregularities in the prison. Abdul Karim Telgi who was convicted in a multi crore stamp paper fraud has been allowed a few under-trials under him who have often been seen massaging his feet. The report also refers to a random drug test carried out on 25 prison inmates out of which 18 tested positive for cannabis and other drugs.
However, the DG Prisons, Rao said that there was not VIP treatment given to any of the prison inmates.
