Are tattoo’s just a fad of the times? Hardly. In fact, tattoos were prominent in the good old days of the past, and it wasn’t just the nasty characters getting them.
People love to decorate themselves. While stage actors and actresses were getting designs painted on their bodies, there were many other people getting permanent markings and proudly displaying them for all to see.
The woman from the 1800 surely loved their tattoo’s, but they did not like the idea of pain while getting inked. So in order to overcome the fear of needle they had a special drink which would numb the pain.
The ladies used to have bromide in a stiff shot of whiskey to calm down their nerves. And then the tattoo artist would have apply some liquid cocaine using a small sponge where the tattoo was going on to numb the area. The artist would apply it again and again till the tattoo is finished.

He thought that it would be the solution to the divorces which were happening and would stop woman from leaving their houses to have affairs with other men.
A simple chin tattoo was not going to stop the passions of the heart or the loin’s.
It is one of the oldest tricks to remove the tattoo. The process is a bit painful. To erase the ink, one had poke the toothpick into the tattooed skin, over and over, and then let the milk soak into the skin to break up the ink.
But this soon became a trick for criminals to try and get rid of identifying marks on their skin so as to avoid justice. The criminals would fool the police by either removing it of getting a new tattoo in its place. If they were captured and questioned, the criminals could show that they were not the person they were accused of being.
A sailor having one nude tattoo of a woman is very common in the early 1900. But when US Secretary of the Navy Josephus Daniels decided that men who bore those naughty tattoos could not join the Navy.
But that came in as a huge blow for many former Navy men and old seafolk wanted to reenlist for the World War I.
In response to Secretary Daniels’s decision, the Navy League offered to help these men. The idea was to get tattoo artists to cover up their nude ladies with skirts and dresses. But Daniels wasn’t buying it, he said if these Navy men wants to return to force they have get their tattoo removed by their own money.
